Christopher Kelly | BA LLB

“Years of trial and negotiation experience have shown me that success depends on a keen interest in people and places, excellent investigation skills, superior knowledge of the law, and talent and skills in the arena of legal argument and advocacy. Ultimately, what wins cases is the ability to show the human side of the story – to reveal not just the right and the wrong, but the hurt and the hope.”

Practising law since 1994, Chris received his education at the University of Toronto and the University of Ottawa. During his legal education Chris worked in criminal prosecutions at the Crown Attorney’s offices in Whitby and in Pembroke, and completed his articling with a civil litigation firm in Ottawa.

Mr. Kelly has been in private practice since 1994 representing clients in Pembroke/Petawawa, the Ottawa Valley, and the Capital Region. He has handled serious and high profile cases, appearing in all levels of the Ontario Court, including the Ontario Court of Justice, the Ontario Superior Court, and the Court of Appeal for Ontario, as well as various administrative tribunals including the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, the federal Review Tribunal (CPP disability), the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, and the Real Estate Council of Ontario.

Mr. Kelly’s practice involves general litigation, and is primarily focussed on claims and disputes relating to accidents and personal injuries, disability, and other insurance related matters, with special emphasis on motor vehicle claims. In addition, Mr. Kelly handles cases involving employment disputes. On a selective basis, Mr. Kelly also acts on criminal law cases with a focus on particularly challenging and complex matters.

Through years of representing clients Mr. Kelly has developed a valuable professional network of medical professionals, occupational therapists, vocational assessors, social workers, engineers, appraisers and economists, who are available to bring unbiased expert evidence to the negotiation table or to the court room.

Chris is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, The Advocates’ Society, the County of Carlton Law Association, and the Renfrew County Law Association.

Outside of work, Chris is an avid cyclist, motorcyclist, sailor, musician, and an enthusiastic fan of his wife and daughters.

Chris is available to meet with you, and listen to your story, at the Kelly+Kelly office in Pembroke, at the Kelly+Kelly consultation office in Ottawa, or in your home.
