
Cedar Swartz-Fisher | BA Hons JD
Cedar joins us from Kingston, Ontario, where she practiced Family Law, Residential Real Estate, and Wills and Estates.
She was drawn to the Ottawa Valley by its rural communities and opportunities for outdoor recreation.
Cedar attended university in Sherbrooke, Quebec and in Kamloops, British Columbia and was an active student both in and outside of the classroom. While in law school she was elected as the 1L Class Representative, and played for the women’s rugby team. In her second year, Cedar studied for six months in Lyon, France as part of an international law program. She speaks French fluently.
Cedar started working in many areas of law including Family Law, Residential Real Estate, Civil Litigation and Wills and Estates. She has narrowed her focus primarily on the area of family law.
Cedar has experience appearing before the Provincial Offences Court, Ontario Court of Justice, as well as the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
She has assisted members of the military community through her volunteer work at the Kingston Military Community Resources Centre – Legal Clinic. She understands the unique challenges that military members experience when facing separation or divorce.
She is a passionate and tactful advocate who uses a direct approach through negotiations, written materials, and oral advocacy. She understands the financial impact that legal proceedings can have and takes every opportunity to maximize cost efficiency.
In her spare time, Cedar enjoys spending time outdoors. She can be found camping and hiking all year round, cycling, and walking her dog. On weekends she can be found gardening, snowboarding, and trying out new recipes.
Cedar is a member of the Renfrew County Law Association, Renfrew County Family Law Association, the Frontenac Bar Association, and the Law Society of Ontario.
She accepts Legal Aid Certificates on a priority and case by case basis. She is also a member of the Legal Aid Domestic Violence Panel and accepts certificates.
